Matt Lamon, DO - Founder

Dr. Lamon founded Signal Health Practice on a simple premise: the best medicine is unhurried and deeply personal. He cares for a deliberately small panel of patients, allowing for the attention, continuity, and depth that conventional practice rarely affords.

Background

Dr. Lamon earned his medical degree from the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine at the University of North Texas Health Science Center. He completed his residency in Family Medicine at Ventura County Medical Center, followed by a fellowship in Addiction Medicine at the same institution.

His clinical work spans family medicine, addiction medicine, and palliative care, a broad spectrum of practice that has given him experience across the full arc of health: prevention, chronic disease, recovery, and serious illness. He has since pursued additional training in obesity medicine, behavioral medicine, and nutrition, the disciplines at the center of his work at Signal Health Practice.

Approach

Dr. Lamon’s practice is grounded in the tenets of osteopathic medicine. The first holds that a person is an integrated whole of body, mind, and spirit. A symptom or lab value is rarely an isolated event, and it is best understood in context. This philosophy also holds that the body has a remarkable capacity for self-regulation and healing.

Sleep shapes appetite, insulin sensitivity, and blood pressure. Nutrition drives lipids, liver health, and inflammation. Movement and lean muscle mass govern how the body handles glucose and how well it ages. Stress and relationships influence all of it. Cardiometabolic health sits at the center: the same systems that determine energy and body composition today also determine long-term risk of cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and cognitive decline.

That interconnectedness is also why more data is not always better. Modern health offers no shortage of tests, trackers, and protocols, but much of it is noise: markers with little predictive value, single readings stripped of context, and trends that change nothing about what a patient should do. Dr. Lamon’s role is to separate signal from noise: choosing tests for what they can actually reveal, reading results in context, and focusing effort on the few interventions with the strongest evidence and greatest return. The goal is not to optimize every number, but to move the metrics that matter.

Outside the Practice

Dr. Lamon lives in Ojai, California with his family. Outside of work, he enjoys hiking, biking, surfing, and spending time with his children.
